Healthy Whole Grains and Diabetes

If you look at the diet recommendations by either the Canadian Diabetes Association or the American Diabetes Association you will notice something in common. The official recommendations include reducing total fats and saturated fats in food. The recommendations also include eating carbohydrates up to 300 grams a day. Autoimmune Disorders and Wheat

When I was in my thirties, I developed Graves’ Disease. Graves’ disease is an autoimmune thyroid disorder which causes a whole set of distressing and eventually life threatening symptoms if left untreated. For me, it presented itself as extreme shakiness, persistent heart palpitations – especially after eating, frequent hunger, inability to sleep, a feeling of being hot all the time and weight loss.
